Personal correspondence, from Venice, London, Padua, Genoa, and other locations. The letters range from requests to call on Miss Burney to letters thanking her for her advice to letters of admiration, and include frequent references to his travels, rehearsals, and performances as a singer. He mentions an encounter with the King of Sweden [Gustav III?] traveling under the pseudonym "Count Haga," and his contribution to a forthcoming volume of music history by P. Martini [Martini, Padre Giovanni Battista?]. The letters, and Burney's annotations and corrections, often refer to his progress in learning English, which was one of the professed reasons of their correspondence, though the letter in Italian apologizes for his lack of practice. Annotations from d'Arblay on the last letters explain the 35-year hiatus in their correspondence, and his death before she could reply to the final letter which renewed it.
